CHANGING WHAT IS POSSIBLE.

The numbers aren't just alarming—they're a call to action. Today, suicide remains the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10–24 in the United States. Nearly 1 in 5 high school students has seriously considered suicide, and 1 in 10 has attempted it. Behind every statistic is a young person navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness, or overwhelming stress—often without the support they need.

That's where SOAR (formerly PrairieCare Fund) comes in.

Since 2016, SOAR has invested more than $1.7 million into Minnesota schools, nonprofits, and community organizations, helping bring critical mental health support directly to young people. These investments have expanded mental health education, introduced classroom-based wellness programs, strengthened suicide prevention efforts, supported staff training, and opened new pathways for connection, healing, and resilience.

Demand for youth mental health support continues to outpace available resources, leaving a funding gap of more than $6 million. Every dollar helps expand access, remove barriers, and create more opportunities for young people to receive support before they reach a crisis point. Together, we can build a future where every Minnesota child and teen feels seen, supported, and equipped to thrive.

“We are seeing an explosion of mental health concerns and needs in the school system. We do not have the personnel to handle these needs. Programs like this, and grant funding, is instrumental and essential in helping students address their mental health needs and introducing them to resilience and how it can help their success in school."
